New Comer or New Partners in Community Summit Classes

This is a series of classes designed for those who wish to plug in or become regular "members" of our spiritual community, and guide one's next steps of their spiritual journey. There are four classes altogether:

Summit I: Partners in Community - is designed to help you become more familiar with The Journey. We share our core beliefs, our mission, vision and values, and our strategies and structures for accomplishing our mission. By the end of the class we hope you will have enough information to make an informed decision about partnering together with us on the journey.

Summit II: Exercising Spiritual Maturity - This class will focus on the four basic habits every Christian needs to develop in order to grow to spiritual maturity. This class will equip you with the skills you need to begin these habits and explain the tools you need to continue these habits. The four habits are: Reading God's word, prayer, tithing and fellowship.

    Summit III: Assessing My S.H.A.P.E.
    - Through the S.H.A.P.E. process, you'll learn how God can use your Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experiences to minister to others in need.

Summit IV: Knowing My Life's Mission
    - This class is dedicated to helping you discover and realize your place in the world and in home missions. "Knowing My Life Mission" is a class that equips and empowers you for world and life-changing missions. This class has three primary emphases: Learning to share my faith, becoming a "world class" Christian; and discovering God's mission for my life.

    ALPHA Small Group

Alpha gives everyone the opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting. The Alpha course meets once a week for 10 weeks, and usually includes a one-day or weekend getaway.  Sessions begin with a meal, followed by a short talk and time to discuss what's been taught.

During the discussion, everyone is welcome to contribute their opinions and no question is considered hostile or too simple.  Questions might include—Is there a God? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going? Our groups are normally evening courses, typically lasting 2 hours.

  • Programs and Events for all Ages

Throughout the year we have several community-wide events at the Journey for all ages:

Financial Peace University: We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches God's ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you've dreamed you could be. This plan will show you how to get rid of debt, manage your money, spend and save wisely, and much more! Please contact Tim VanderBaan at the church for the next course.

Annual Chili Cookoff: We kick off the Autumn season with a bang! Join us us for some free and sometimes hot chili and fun times.

Missions and Outreach Events: Join us while on our many outreach projects to spread love and good will within our local communities. See the ACTION section for more details.
